SOUTHEAST PRESIDENT LETTER

In April, the Southeast Chapter held a rally in Webster FL at the Florida Grande Motor Coach Resort. Our rally hosts Sandy Gallup, Terry and Belinda Moorefield did an outstanding job. Our members enjoyed excellent meals, lively entertainment and a lovely day on the water in Mt. Dora, Florida. One of the highlights of the rally was when our own, Doug Thompson, was recognized by Bob Carani, ACA VP, for all his years of work as Editor of the ACA Magazine. Members hope to get back to Florida Grande in 2021. On behalf of all our members who attended this event, thank you very much Sandy, Belinda and Terry for a job well done.
Many of us are preparing to head off to the National Rally in Montgomery Texas. This rally has been sold out for almost two months. Hopefully, all our members who were interested in attending were able to get their reservations made without having to be wait listed. The Southeast chapter and the Happy Wanderers will be hosting a pre rally get together May 15 through 18, 2019, at the Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA. Hope to see many of you there.
Because of a large rate increase at Gulf Waters RV Resort in Ft. Myers, the Southeast Chapter has moved its Fall Rally to the Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda FL. This resort is just a few years old and offers many amenities, including loaner bicycles and kayaks for your use. It is located just 0.5 miles off I-75 within 4 miles of downtown Punta Gorda. Rally hosts Jackie and Mark Belcher and Joanie and Jack Brier are already hard at work to make this another incredible SE Rally. THE NEW DATES FOR THIS RALLY ARE OCTOBER 17 THROUGH 21, 2019. Our Christmas Rally will be back at Sun N Fun in Sarasota FL, December 5 through 9, 2019. This is an award-winning RV resort and a very popular rally with our group. Rally hosts The Sloans, The Moores and Mr. Mancuso are planning for a festive rally which will include a Coach decorating contest. Come prepared with all your Christmas decorations to make your coach the one that will light up the resort and win the contest. Online registration available.
Our Regional Rally at Lazydays, January 11-14, 2020 is filling up. If you are interested in attending this rally be sure to register online as soon as you can in order to reserve your site. January 8 through 11, Southeast will be participating in a pre-rally along with our Happy Wanderers friends. Again, if this is something you are interested in doing, please make your reservations.
Southeast Chapter moves from Lazydays to the Florida Supershow held at the Florida State Fairgrounds, January 14 through 19, 2020. This is one of our most popular events, so mark your calendars.
We are returning to magical Ft. Wilderness, February 2 through 6, 2020. Hilda Neal, President of Happy Travels, along with rally attendees Pauline and Ray Shea are seasoned Disney members and are always ready, willing and able to guide newer Disney attendees through the ins and outs assuring all of an amazing Disney experience. This rally is posted online, urge you to sign-up soon. This rally is very laid back and easy to manage as the Park provides all the entertainment, but if you are interested in hosting the morning coffee hour and afternoon social hour, please let me know.
Spring brings us back to Compass RV Park in St. Augustine FL. The rally dates are April 16-20. We are looking for rally hosts for this event. Let me know if you are interested in helping with this rally.
At the rally in Webster, I had a few members approach me with ideas of new locations for rallies and other club suggestions. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please do not hesitate to communicate those to me or any other member of the Board.
