SEACA Newsletter – March 2020
Greetings to the members of the Southeast Chapter.
Soon we will be gathering in St. Augustine for our Spring rally April 16 through 20, 2020. Hopefully, you have made your reservations and plan to attend this fun-filled event. St. Augustine is a City of rich history. Things to see include touring the oldest wooden school house and Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth. Flagler College, once Hotel Ponce de Leon, features magnificent Tiffany windows and beautiful murals. There is just so much to see and do in this area. I could go on and on about tourist attractions. Additionally, the city boosts some delicious places to dine. Thanks to John and Jill Schafer and Dick and Pat Lokar for hosting this event. Look forward to seeing you there.
The next Southeast Chapter rally will be our Fall rally October 1 through 5, 2020. Many of our members have requested that we hold a rally outside of Florida, so here it is!! This rally will be held in Pine Mountain, GA at the Pine Mountain RV Resort. Reservations for this rally MUST be made through the resort. Members have 30 days to make their reservation with a one-day deposit (this 30-day count begins on March 10). Sixty (60) days prior to the rally (August 10), members must call and pay the remainder. The one-night deposit is non-refundable and after balance is paid it is non-refundable. The rates range from $50-65 per night. The rally rates are determined by the number of coaches we have attending. A minimum of 15 coaches is necessary to receive any rally discount and to utilize the pavilion without charge. A rally fee has not been set for this entire rally; we are attempting to determine how many people would be interested. If you are interested, please contact Pine Mountain RV Resort to make your reservation within the next 30 days. The number of coaches will help of determine the rally fee. Michael and I visited Pine Mountain RV Resort last July 4. It is a very nice RV resort; the town of Pine Mountain is charming and there are some interesting tourists’ attractions nearby. Southeast does not often venture outside of Florida and it is exciting to plan a visit to Georgia. Please support our efforts to broaden our rally locations and signup for this event. To date, this rally does not have rally hosts, therefore we are looking for rally hosts. Volunteers??? (please note that in addition to registering with the RV resort, signup online at www.southeastaca.net is necessary and appreciated.) (Phone number for Pine Mountain RV Resort is 706-663-4329).
Another change of venue, will be the location of our annual Christmas rally. The Christmas Rally will be held at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda, FL December 3 through 7, 2020. Rally hosts are Jerry and Kay Venlett and Michael and Dorothy Strunk. If anyone else is interested in assisting in this rally and learning the “rally host” ropes, please contact us. Our Christmas rallies have always been filled with the spirit of giving and good cheer. This one will be no different. The hosts have begun working on making this a special event. Please continue to check our website for signup at www.southeastaca.net. Site reservations should be made by contacting Creekside RV Resort directly (941-833-3334). There are 3 different sites to choose from with varying prices. It was determined after the last rally at Creekside that members preferred choosing their own site locations.
The National Rally this year will be held November 1-6, 2020 in Marksville, LA. This is the home of the Paragon Casino. The rally marks the 30th anniversary of the American Coach Association. Unfortunately, Michael and I will be unable to attend this special event, but for those who are able to make the trip to Louisiana in November, please signup. Chapters have been assured that all Chapters will be parked together. Pre-rallies are discouraged, but early arrival is available.
With Summer approaching, Southeast members may be planning their travels through the United States. Many of the Florida Winter residents will be returning home. Whatever your plans, stay safe and enjoy the camaraderie that RVing offers us. Look forward to seeing you at one of our rallies and/or on the road.
Dorothy Strunk, President
